Why Give?
Most people struggle with giving, because they just don't trust God. So we are going to ask you, to trust us, when we say that trusting God, is not a decision you will
ever regret. Here are a couple things to consider before you pray about giving to TEAM FCA:
1. Have you ever considered the first act of giving recorded in Scripture is also captured while sin is newly present? Genesis 4 shows us how both Cain and Able gave an offering to God, but God had no "regard" for Cain's offering. Why? They were both obedient right? Could it be in the wording used in this story; that Cain gave 'some' while Able gave his
first/best? Maybe. But Cain's response, to God's response, reveals something deeper ~ sin in the heart of man. And God's warning to Cain, is one we should pay attention to as well: "sin is crouching at the door. It's desire, is for you." So our heart has to be in the right place when we give, because sin will attempt to pollute our heart for giving. So where should your
heart be for giving to FCA?
2. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says that. “Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.”
Reluctantly is the Greek word “ek” meaning “out of, or from”… that is, what is your reason for giving? Compulsion as Webster’s Dictionary puts it, is the action or state of forcing or being forced to do something. But the Greek word “anagke” actually means necessity, imposed by circumstances, calamity, distress, or by law. We don't want people to give in response to the circumstances of our world. We don’t want people to give, because they feel like they have to. And God doesn't want you to give, just because He said so. He wants you to be cheerful... that is prompt to do whatever He says, because you trust Him, at His word. It's not just a matter of obedience, if your heart isn't in the right place.
So we desire, in a powerfully irresistible way, to evoke your interest, attention, and/or admiration in what we do. And we want you to be a part of the only thing, bringing everything, together in Jesus Christ.
"By this My Father is glorified,
that you bear much fruit
and prove to be My Disciples."
